Counselling for Children and Adolescents
I work with children from the age of 12. I use directive and non-directive interventions.
With every child or adolescent client, I begin with an initial intake session with parents or guardians. Parent sessions continue regularly throughout the counselling process to ensure ongoing support and collaboration.
Children and adolescents today face more stress and pressure than ever before. They are growing up in a world of constant stimulation, information overload, and relentless online connection, where very little feels private. Texts, emails, social media, and online interactions can create an expectation of being constantly available and instantly responsive, leaving little opportunity to switch off or fully relax.
In my daily work with adolescents, I regularly see the impact of high anxiety levels and the growing weight of societal and academic expectations placed on young people.
I support teenagers and their parents in navigating this often overwhelming stage of life, offering guidance and support in areas including anxiety, low mood, school refusal, exam stress, self-care, disordered eating, and adjusting to life before and after Neuro diagnoses, among many others.
